So I am basically past the researching phase of my project. Like I described last post, I have learned and familiarized myself with a lot of different aspects of Rap / Hip-Hop Music.
With my new found knowledge of Rap music and my reflective blog post last week, I synthesized all the ideas into a short list on what makes a good Rap song. Using this list, I created the rubric for my inquiry project using the B.C. Curricular Competencies for English 10.
Now that I have done some research and annotations, it is time to start writing my song that I plan to play for the class. I am planning on writing using the process plan laid out by powerpoetry.org
While I am very excited to start writing, I am having trouble deciding what I want my song to be about. I need a topic that is important to me, has enough to write about, and, well, is interesting. I think I have narrowed it down to a song about expectations from myself as well as others or a pump up song like “Lose yourself” by Eminem. My next step is to start writing for both themes and see which one I have more of a connection to. I am very excited to continue writing and prepare to share with all of my classmates in the new year.
On that note, I hope everyone has a wonderful, relaxing holiday and a happy New Year!
