Related to your learning evidence, what have you done to make retrieving information easier or more effective in class?
From the beginning of my project, I knew that I didn’t want to write my lyrics on the computer. This is because I feel the sensory experience and simplicity of writing in a notebook allows the words to come out easier. Writing in a notebook also helps me because if I need to look something up I can look it up on my computer and not have to constantly switch between tabs. So even though I had my notebook for lyrics, I was planning on writing all my notes and research in a word document. Not long after I started typing different rhyme schemes, I realized how much easier it would be if I wrote my notes in my notebook as well. In my notebook I can draw pictures, have all of my information in one place, and actually retain the information I am learning by writing it down (as opposed to typing it). Once I decided to write everything in my book, the research I conduct has become a lot more useful and actually enjoyable.
Something else I am planning to do to make retrieving information easier in class is prepare the necessary resources before the actually class. I do tasks such as printing out lyrics before I come to class, so I don’t waste valuable class time doing things not relevant to answering my inquiry question.
I also now see the importance of planning out the project before hand. I can go into each class and each week knowing what I have to do and not spending all my time figuring that out. Last year I did not plan out my ZIP project as well as I could have, so when I did plan, the amount of enjoyability I have found in this project has dramatically increased.
